Fremont Pincushion

picture of a fremont pincushion wildflower

Fremont Pincushion (Chaenactis fremontii) is a small white wildflower native to the desert Southwest.

It is a member of the Sunflower Family (Asteraceae) that blooms annualy. All pincushion species, with one exception are native to the western United States. They typically sprout either white or yellow flowers.

The plant can grow over a foot tall, and multiple flowers can bloom on the stem's multiple branches.

There is no historical record of either the stem or flower being used as a medicinal or food source.
