San Diego Beaches

picture of the coastline along Cabrillo National Monument

Situated at the southern end of the California coast, the San Diego area offers visitors a Mediterranean climate and 70 miles worth of beaches.

The top picture shows the coastline at Cabrillo National Monument, a federally administered area at the tip of Point Loma, a hilly peninsula overlooking the city.

Cabrillo is known for its excellent birding opportunities, along with other recreational activities such as beach combing.

La Jolla sits a few miles up the coast along seven miles of beaches. It is a premier scuba diving, surfing and seal watching destination.

The bottom picture shows one of the local sea caves, part of a very popular kayaking package.
