Humboldt Bay

Next to the San Francisco Bay, Humboldt Bay is the second largest bay area along the California Coast.

Both Arcata and Eureka, situated along the bay, can be used as home base for enjoying the areas many recreational opportunities, including hiking in the Redwoods National Park.

Birding enthusiasts flock to the area. Of special note is the birding hot spot called Arcata Marsh.

The marsh is a model wetlands and wastewater treatment facility and during the course of a year the small area hosts around two hundred and fifty species of birds.

Fishing and kyaking around the bay are also popular recreational activities.
