Crescent City, located along the north coast of California, just south of the Oregon border, offers visitors a variety of recreation activities.

The crescent shaped harbor is home to a commercial and recreational fishing industry. The barbor's situation vis a vis the Pacific Ocean makes it tsunami prone. In 1964, a twenty one foot wall of water, generated by an Alaskan earthquake swept acros the city.

The community also serves as a gateway for hikes in nearby Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park and the Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park.
