There is a marked difference between beaches around the United States. Beaches on the West Coast are commonly characterized by coastal bluffs and rocks.

Ocean currents on the West Coast flow north to south, making beach water temperatures typically lower than their East Coast counterparts. If you are an East Coast beach swimmer, be prepared for non-bath water temperatures.
