Pictures of Beaches

picture of some sand dunes

From San Diego in the south to Whidbey Island in the North, coastal bluffs and rocky beaches characterize much of the coastal areas along the West Coast of the United States.

A quick look at a map shows that the California coastline dominates the coastal area. Its one thousand plus mile long coast makes it close to three times larger than the Oregon Coast.

The California Current flows north to south, making beach water temperatures typically lower than their East Coast counterparts. If you are an East Coast beach swimmer, be prepared for non-bath water temperatures.

This album shows pictures of beaches, beach scenes and travel pointers for beaches up and down the West Coast.

For convenience sake it is organized in geographical order, south to north.
