Birdsfoot Trefoil

| Weed Identification Guide Types of Weeds Types of Flowers |
Birdsfoot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), an introduced plant in the pea family, has a history of used as a ground cover and cattle forage, especially on land with marginal soil.
The plant's ability to grow in poor soil conditions also allowed it to escape from pastures and grow wild on roadsides and disturbed areas, often to the point of being weedy.
Consistent pulling of the plant and roots, over a couple of years time, is usually sufficient to remove weedy patches.
