Moth Mullein

picture of a moth mullein

Moth Mullein (Verbascum blattaria) is a member of the Figwort family and generally described as a noxious weed in need of control.

It's also a weed with exceptionally nice looking flowers, with petals ranging from white to yellow, contrasted by purple filaments.

In instances of low density growth, pulling is a recommended organic remedy. Beware of the deep taproot.

In instances of high density growth over a large patch of land, use of the weevil, Gymnetron tetrum, is the recommended biological control. The weevil eats the seeds.
