picture of a yellow-faced bumblebee

The (Yellow-faced Bumblebee (Bombus vosnesenskii) inhabits flowering areas of the West Coast States.

The name comes from the yellow hair that extends from the head down through the face. The remainder of the body is black except for a thin yellow band around the bottom half of the abdomen.

They are one of the earliest bumblebees to fly during the season and they continue flying until the first frost.
