Isodontia Mexicana

picture of a grass carrying wasp isodontia

The Isonontia genus of wasps are known as grass carrying wasps because of their use of grass to build their nests.

With the exception of Isodontia elegans, the handful of Isodontia species have black bodies with slight differences in leg and wing colors.

The black legs, gray face and lighter color wing color of the wasp in the picture suggests Isodontia mexicana.
