Brown-belted Bumblebee: Bombus griseocollis
| Bumblebees and More Bumblebee Pictures Types of Bees Wasps |
A few bumblebee species, including the Eastern Bumblebee (bombus impatiens), the Two-spotted Bumble Bee (bombus bimaculatus), the Half-black Bumble Bee (Bombus vagans) and the Brown-belted Bumble Bee (Bombus griseocollis), share many physical similarities.
Each species displays a stark black and yellow abdominal pattern, along with a yellow thorax. Identification confusion can reign in areas where these species overlap.
The top picture shows a Brown-Belted Bumblebee, the only species found in the particular area of the specimen's location. A bit of the brown belt on the upper abdomen section also shows in the picture.
They are a fairly common species east of the Rocky Mountains.
