Bombus Huntii

picture of a bumblebee species, bombus huntii

A common western bumblebee species, Bombus huntii, is covered with yellow, black and red hairs.

The top picture shows a top down look which details the yellow (or cream) hair on the face and abdomen.

The black bar extending from wing to wing, across the abdomen, represents a good field identification clue for distinguishing it from other native red-tailed species.

The last abdominal segment, which is black, does not show up in the picture.
