Anthophora

About one dozen Anthophora species, a genus of bees in the family Apidae, can be found from Coast to Coast.
They are small bees, often found either nectaring on flowers or digging nests near sandy banks along waterways.
While they are solitary bees, females often build their nests close together. Males also forage and sleep in close proximity.
The picture highlights the distinct blue eyes of the species along with the striped abdomen.
