Anthidium manicatum

picture of a Anthidium maculosum

Found from coast to coast, the Wool Carder Bee (Anthidium manicatum) gets its name from the female practice of using the soft "wool" of plants in their nests.

Introduced from Europe, it's a hardy bee that has subsequently spread from coast to coast.

The yellow abdominal pattern typically consists of spots at the top that change to lines along th bottom.
