Ammophila procera

picture of eremnophila-aureonotata, a thread-waisted wasp

Five Amophilia species are native to the United States, with Ammophila procera being an Eastern species.

The long thin waist places it in the family of thread-waisted wasps.

The black body with slight red markings on the abdomen suggests a male Ammophila procera. Females display more red on the abdomen.
