Vietnamese Leaf Turtles (Geoemyda spengleri)

Their black plaston explains their other common names, Black-breasted hill turtles or Black-breasted leaf turtles.

Contrary to the name, they are not members of the more general Leaf Turtle genus Cyclemys.

Rather, they are a small fresh water turtle indeginous to mountain areas in Vietnam and China.

They are considered endangered.
