Western Pond Turtle

The Western Pond Turtle (Clemmys marmorata) is the primary native West Coast fresh water turtle.

It is listed as endangered in Washington State. Population declines have been attributed to habitat loss and the introduction of predator species such as the bull frog.

They are a dark or olive color with a marbled skin. You can see some of the marble color on the face in the picture.
