Western Pond Turtle

It is listed as endangered in Washington State. Population declines have been attributed to habitat loss and the introduction of predator species such as the bull frog.
They are a dark or olive color with a marbled skin. You can see some of the marble color on the face in the picture.
The turtle in the picture had just climbed out of the brush next to a big puddle and sat in the sun.
