Painted Terrapin

picture of a painted Terrapin

The Painted Terrapin (Callagur borneoensis), the sole member of the Callagur genus, inhabits coastal estuaries around Southeast Asia.

They are omnivores, consuming local plant life, fish and invertebrates.

Coastal development in their range has placed great stress on their population. The IUCN has listed it as critically endangered since 1996.
