The Aldabra Tortoise (Geochelone gigantia) is one of the largest tortoises in the world.

It is also one of the most long lived animals in the world. One Aladabra Toroise, estimated to be two hundred and fifty years old recently died at a zoo in India.

They come from the small Aladabra Atol, part of the Seychelles, in the Indian Ocean.

These tortoises are very popular animals in zoos across the United States.
