Parnassians are a wide ranging species found over much of the northern hemisphere
Most species share some physical characteristics. The majority are a white color with black and/or red markings. Their wings are semi-translucent and they are often tailless.
The Clodius Parnassian (Parnassius clodius) is one of only a couple of parnassian species found in the United States.
Its range extends through the Pacific Northwest to the nothern part of the Rocky Mountains.
They are generally a mid-summer species, and can be found in abundance in many areas.
