White-patched Skipper

picture of a white-patched skipper

White-patched Skipper (Chiomara georgina) is one of two Chiomara skippers found in the United States.

Small populations can be found in South Texas, Southern Arizona and Southern California in areas where the Barbados Cherry (the larval host plant) grows.

It's a medium sized skipper with a mixture of brown and white wings. When the wings contract, the white patches diminish, giving the skipper the look of a mottled moth. The underside of the wings are white.
