Silver-spotted Skipper

picture of a silver-spotted skipper

Silver-spotted Skippers (Epargyreus clarus) rank among the most common spreadwing skipper species in the United States.

With the exception of Northern Maine and some Western desert areas, the Silver-spotted can be spotted basking around many fields and forests throughout the summer.

The top picture shows the characteristic mustard color marks on the top of the wings.

The bottom picture shows the white or silver spot on the underside of the wings.
