Sickle-winged Skipper

picture of a sickle-winged skipper

The Sickle-winged Skipper (Eantis tamenund), the sole representative of the genus in the United States can be found in many parts of Central and South Texas.

Physically, it is an above average sized skipper, and the rounded or sickle shaped forewings provide an explanation for the name.

The wings have a bit more color than shown in the picture. Depending on the light, the borders of the wings show a purple tint.

The caterpillars feed on citrus tree leaves. Adults nectar on a variety of flowering plants.
