Propertius Duskywing

picture of a propertius duskywing

The Propertius Duskywing (Erynnis propertius) is a very common West Coast skipper.

The picture presents a fairly good species representation, showing the rather bland color lower wings contrasted with the spotted, and darker, top wings.

They can be found basking along fields and forests from spring through mid-summer, particularly near oak groves, which serve as food for the caterpillars.
