Northern Cloudywing (Thorybes pylades) is one of only a few species with a continental range.

The caterpillars feed on many different plants in the pea family. The large range means they at any time of the year peas are blooming, the Northern Cloudywing is flying.

Physically, the picture shows your basic, medium sized, brown butterfly, with white spots on the top and bottom sides of the forewings.
