Laviana White Skipper

Typically, spread-wing skippers are considered the butterflies with brown wings. The Laviana White Skipper (Heliopetes laviana) is one of five, white winged, Heliopetes species found in the United States.

The Northern White Skipper (Heliopetes ericetorum) has the widest range, through much of the West. The Laviana White Skipper's range is limited to the southern border of the United States from California to Texas.

It can be found throughout much of Mexico, Central and South America, in areas that host plants in the mallow family, the food plant for the caterpillar.
