Younger flowers develop six white petals of relatively uniform size. As the flower matures and the petals grow, some develop a slight blue to purple shading.
Compared to many native iris species, dietes grandiflora is a warm weather iris, generally recommended for gardens in zones 8-10.
Like most native iris species, they are considered relatively easy to grow perennials. Their foilage remains green throughout the year.
Iries are generally not known as popular indoor plants, although they can be grown as such.
