Euphorbia

picture of an euphorbian succulent

Euphorbia are a genus of plants in the Spurge family (Euphorbiaceae).

Many species, including the one in the top picture, resemble cacti, however, they are a different family and it's more accurate to consider them succulents.

The poinsettia is probably the most well known of Euphorbia species. Many euphorbia, including the poinsettia, are considered great houseplants.

Native euphorbia species grow in every state of the United States. Many are woody plants or vines with perennial flowers.
