Like the wild iris, the bicolor iris grows as a perennial in warmer climates. It's relatively easy to grow and it can tolerate both comparatively wet and dry climactic conditions.
In colder climates, it can be grown as an annual, planted in spring, after the final frost.
They can also be grown in containers, and taken in and out of the house during the colder and warmer seasons.
