Scarlet Milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) is one of dozens of Asclepias species that grow in the United States, the genus famous for its relationship with the Monarch Butterfly.
Interestingly enough, it is one of only a couple of non-native Asclepias species, with a range limited to South Florida, the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, Southern California and Hawaii.
The red buds and yellow and orange flowers make it a very showy species.
