Salmonberry

Salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis) is a medium sized berry shrub in the Rose family (Rosaceae).

It is native to the coastal woodland areas along the West Coast, including Alaska.

The five petal, pink flowers are early bloomers that add color to their green forest background.

The red and orange shaded berries are a local treat, served as either part of the main course with native fish and fowl or as part of the desert.
