Screech Owl

The Screech Owls are a group of Strigidae, named for their vocalization patterns, which do not follow the traditional hoo or hoot of other Strigidae species.
Three species can be found in the United States:
- Eastern Screech-Owl (Megascops asio)
- Western Screech-Owl (Megascops kennicottii)
- Whiskered Screech-Owl (Megascops trichopsis)
They are on the small side for owls, measuring about eight to nine inches in height.
