The Vervet Monkey (Chlorocebus pygerythrus), one of six different Chlorocebus species of Africa, inhabits the grasslands and woodlands of East Africa.
Adept at ground living, their society builds on a female philopatry platform with multimales joing and dispersing from the group over the course of their lives.
Their diet consists of fruit, local plant life and insects.
Native Africans often label them as pests because of their tendency to sometimes occupy farmland during their travels.
While they are hunted, their range is sufficiently large to provide for a relatively stable population.
