Red-ruffed Lemur

picture of a Red-ruffed Lemur

The larger than average size and striking rusty red coast of the Red-Ruffed Lemur (Varecia rubra) makes it an easily identified lemur species.

Their range is limited to the older growth forests of Northeastern Madagascar. The limited range and habitat destruction have led to the Red-ruffed Lemur's listing as endangered.
