Patas Moneky

picture of a Patas Monkey

The Patas Monkey (Erythrocebus patas) is the sole representative of the Erythrocebus genus in the family of old world monkeys.

The picture shows a tall, skinny Patas, and true to form, males average about three feet in height, rarely topping the scales at thirty pounds.

Patas Monkeys adapt to their surroundings fairly easily, and their range extends through most of the ecosystems of Central Africa.

They are also adept to ground living and their omnivorous diet, coupled with their extended range means they will eat grass, fruit, insects, eggs, fish, lizards and almost anything they can catch.
