Olive Baboon

picture of an olive baboon

The Olive Baboon (Papio anubis), one of five native African Baboon species, is also its widest ranging.

Because they can be found from coast to coast throughout Central Africa, their habitat varies from grasslands to forests. Consequently their omnivorous diet consists of most available local foods.

Like all baboon species, they have a fireplug physique. Males averge about two and one half feet in height and weigh in the fifty pound range. The smaller, adult female, weighs in the thirty pound range.

The picture shows a close up look at the black face and olive colored fur.
