The Mongoose Lemur (Eulemur mongoz) inhabits the dry forests of Northwest Madagascar along with some nearby islands.
Males, like the one in the picture, have a reddish color fur around the bottom of the head. Female fur in the same area tends to be white.
Contrary to the name, the Mongoose Lemur does not hunt mongoose. Their diet consists of mostly of fruit, supplemented by local plant life and flowers.
