Coltricia Perennis

picture of a coltricia perennis

The Coltricia perennis is a ground growing polypore found in open areas around conifers.

The above picture shows an unusually large specimen, highlighting its characteristic brown color rings.

While it is generally thinner than other polypores, it is equally as tough, placing it in the inedible category.

This thick leather mushroom sitting atop a strong stalk makes a perfect forest seat for local frogs and fairies.
