Western Redcedar (Thuja plicata), a member of the cypress tree family, is best known as a home builders' wood that providing fencing parts, cedar shingles and decks, among others, for many residential homes.

The tree does not grow quite as tall as the related West Coast Incense Cedar

Multiple, small (less than one inch), egg-shaped cones grow at the end of branches from the crown to the bottom of the tree.
