The Sleepy Orange butterfly (Abaeis nicippe) is the sole member of the Abaeis genus found in the United States, and a common butterfly across the southern part of the United States.

The picture shows a side view of the butterfly with some light black markings on the underwing. That trait helps with field identification.

Females have more marks than males. Winter colors on both are brighter.
