The Orange Sulphur (Colias eurytheme) is one of many similar looking sulfur species in the genus Colias that share two specific field identification marks.
The tops of the wings have black stripes that often show through on side. The underside of the wings has a large, and sometimes small, distinct white spot in the middle of the bottom wing.
Many Colias species with these marks have a geographically limited range. In some areas, species overlap, making for difficult field identification.
