The Western Tanager (Piranga ludoviciana) is a neotropical migrant of the West Coast.

It's a medium sized songbird, about six inches long.

Males are easily recognized by the red crown. Females are a bit less colorful with olive color in the head feathers. Wings are a duller brown.
