The Common Yellowthroat (Geothlypis trichas) is a common warbler throughout the United States.

The male is characterized by a black mask on the face and a striking yellow throat.

Females also have a yellow patch on the throat. Other filed markings are less distinctive.

Swamps and grasslands are Yellowthroat habitat, distinguishing them from other warbler species that prefer forested areas.

They are not particularly shy birds, and getting pictures is mostly a matter of waiting for one to pop up on a bush in their native habitat.
