Spotted Towhee

spotted towhee

The Spotted Towhee is a rather shy bird that likes to hang out under brush and trees as it scrapes the ground looking for seeds. On occasion it also eats insects.

To the untrained eye, they look similar to robins. There is no mistaking the Towhee's red eye for a Robin's eyes.

They are West Coast birds, with many establishing year round residence when they decide to settle. Eastern Towhees look similar, but do not have the white stripes on the wings.
