Savannah Sparrow

savannah sparrow

The Savannah Sparrow is found throughout a variety of habitats in the United States, from open fields to coastal beaches.

They breed in the northern areas and winters in the southern United States and as far south as Central America.

Savannah sparrows are known for their streaked breasts. The yellow patch above the eye is also a very good field identification mark.

They forage on the ground for seeds and sometimes insects. The picture shows that they will also perch on objects close to the ground when they need a break.
