Juncos are a common backyard bird at feeders across the United States during winter. In summer they tend to move to higher elevations to breed.

There are five different variations of Juncos found in the United States, with different feather color combinations distinguishing them.

The Oregon Junco in the picture is characterized by a dark hood and plain back.
