Black-throated Sparrow

picture of a black-throated sparrow

The Black-throated Sparrow (Amphispiza bilineata) is a colorful sparrow of the desert Southwest. White stripes across the face compliment the black throat.

They are year round residents in some desert regions. During breeding season they can be found in a variety of habitats that provide adequate food and shelter options.

Like many other sparrow species, they tend to scratch around on the ground in search of seeds and insects.
