Sideband Snail

picture of a Pacific Sideband snail

Sideband snails, genus Monadenia, live in forested areas of the West Coast.

Exact population levels for the different species is undetermined at the present time. The Trinity Bristle Snail (Monadenia infumata setosa), is listed as a threatened species in California.

The dark band on the side of the otherwise brown shell is a good field identificaiton clue.
