Sweet Creek Falls

Sweet Creek Falls a smaller series of falls, located in the Siuslaw National Forest, are a great out of the way destination for anyone near the Central Oregon coast.

More specifically, Sweet Creek is located in the Coastal Mountain Range, close to Mapleton, just east of the coastal town of Florence.

Direction to the falls starts by the Siuslaw Bridge in Mapleton and looking on the right side of the road for a sign that indicates Sweet Creek Road (County Road 48). Follow the road for approximately 12 miles. There will be a Sweet Creek Falls trail marker on the road that leads to a parking lot and picnic area.

The trail to the falls winds through old growth forest and a catwalk or two over the creek. It's a gentle slope and suitable hike for adults and children.

Spring through summer, a variety of native flora grow along the trail's edge. Come late summer and early fall, the mushrooms sprout.

The waterfalls along the creek are not especially tall. They are, however, very nice looking. Additionally there are many shallow areas of the creek suitable for wading or swimming.
