Silver Falls State Park

Silver Falls State Park, located on state highway 214 in the central Willamette Valley, is Oregon's largest state park and a waterfall adventure (see map with directions and park particulars).

Ten separate waterfalls, easily accessed and photographed, can be viewed from the Trail of Ten Falls, an eight mile loop trail. While the trail moves up and down a few steep hills, most of it can be easily managed by individuals with moderately good health.

Some of the falls can also be seen and photographed with less physical exertion. For example, the top picture shows a view of the North Falls, framed by Douglas Firs, the Oregon state tree, taken from a road side view point. The trail map provides information about additional places around the loop to park your car for a quick walk to a few other falls.

Visitors choosing the trail route are treated to some spectacular views. The next picture, for example, shows a close up view from behind the Middle North Falls. The trail leads visitors completely around the falls.

Visitors would do well to plan for an entire days worth of waterfall excitement. The park charges a nominal fee for day use and offers a variety of additional recreation activities.
