Shellburg Falls

Shellburg falls is a very nice dual falls combination consisting of an upper falls and lower falls.

The falls are located near the town of Mehama, southeast of Salem on state highway 22. In town you will see a left turn for Fern Ridge Road. Continue on the road for 1.2 miles, where you will arrive at a sharp right turn with a gravel road blocked by a fence.

It is not marked very well. You park on the road and hike up the gravel road, for about 1.5 miles to the lower Shellburg falls. Stay on the road, it is surrounded by private property. There is a sign for the upper falls from this location.

While the falls are a bit out of the way, they are worth the effort. It is sometimes difficult to photograph the lower falls. However, the upper falls trail takes you around and behind the upper falls, offering a variety of photographic view points.
